Elyssa graduated from Syracuse University in 1984 with a BS in Elementary Education, K-8. She taught in the New York City Public Schools, PS 86 in the Bronx, and then in School #4 in Fort Lee, New Jersey for an additional 3 years. Elyssa earned her Masters Degree in teaching reading, grades K-12, in 1989 from William Paterson University, Wayne, New Jersey.
Elyssa sat on the Executive Board of Directors of the Bergen County YJCC for six years and was President of the Woodcliff Lake Parents Faculty Association from 2005-2008. When her husband Jack was diagnosed with Lymphoma in April of 2006, Elyssa knew that she and Jack had to do more to help those whose lives have been touched by cancer. Upon Jack’s remission, Research for the Cure was born.
Elyssa and Jack have been married for 19 years and have lived in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey for 11 years with their children Andrew, Jeffrey and Alexa.
